Caracas, Mar 27 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela will continue to champion integration as the only development guarantee for Latin American and Caribbean countries, according to Deputy Minister for Special Economic Zones, Juan Arias.
The senior official at the Ministry of Industries told Prensa Latina that Venezuela will always follow the integrationist policy outlined by President Hugo Chavez (1999-2013), to whom, he said, unity of the peoples from this region was always essential.
‘We cannot make it on our own. The materialization of our countries’ economic and social development needs regional cooperation instead of competition in order to face the major world power axes and have a future better than the one they want to offer,’ Arias noted.
The Venezuelan deputy minister said that he is optimistic about Latin America’s future, ‘peoples are waking up. There are signs that indicate that the right wing is finished. What we need is that left-wing movements have the same opinions and join forces.’
He said that Cuba and Venezuela are an example that mutual help is the only way to get by and face US blockade and neoliberal policies.
In this regard, he gave the elections in Bolivia and Ecuador as an example. He also referred to how accusations against former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula de Silva could be dismantled, as well as demonstrations in Chile and other nations from this continent, all of which, he pointed out, is a sign of hope.
