Havana, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) United States administration have allocated about 250 million dollars to subversion programs against Cuba in the last two decades, Granma newspaper reported on Monday.
That amount, distributed via agencies, companies and organizations such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), finances activities whose purpose is the overthrow of the Cuban Revolution.
These include the most recent incitements to violence, provocations in front of the Ministry of Culture (MINCULT) to promote confrontations, and the actions of different communication platforms, which according to the country’s media have been encouraged and sponsored from the United States.
An example of this is the coverage made by Nelson Julio Alvarez for the ADN Cuba website on the events of January 27 at the MINCULT, for which he received 150-200 dollars, according to a video made by Alvarez himself and published in the Facebook group ‘Cuban Telescope’.
The Cuba Money Project website of US journalist Tracey Eaton states that in 2020 alone, agencies such as USAID dedicated around 2.5 million dollars to subversive activities.
The data corresponds to public information that these US organizations have posted on their websites, but it is considered a partial figure, since there are many secret programs whose recipients of the funds are unknown.
It adds that since Donald Trump took office in 2017, at least 54 groups operated programs using money from USAID or NED.
