US organizations demand to end sanctions on Cuba and Venezuela

Washington, Mar 27 (Prensa Latina) Various Miami and NY organizations have demanded the U.S. government on Friday to suspend sanctions against Cuba and Venezuela in view of the novel Covid-19 pandemic.

In a press release, these organizations claimed that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, governments and organizations based in different nations joined the call by the UN Secretary-General.

¨We urgently call on the U.S. government so that in these times of serious crisis caused by Covid-19 pandemic, to suspend those sanctions imposed on Cuba and Venezuela.

The signatory organizations highlighted the significance of guaranteeing these two nations access to health supplies, medical assistance as well as food, and anything that hinders an adequate response to present pandemic.

The statement recalled that these organizations have for years demanded the U.S. government to ‘lift all sanctions and regulations the cruel and unjust blockade is imposing against Cuba and Venezuela.’
