Washington, June 13 (Prensa Latina) In Washington, Metro DC Coalition in Solidarity with Cuban Revolution demanded on Thursday the end of all US sanctions against Cuba, including the new travel restrictions imposed last week.
Through a statement, the solidarity group regretted Donald Trump’s decision to prevent people to people group educational trips and to ban aircrafts and boats to go to Cuba, including cruises.
Metro DC Coalition indicated that these new restrictions are due to the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, the latter in force since 1996, which allows US citizens to sue every foreigner or local investing in nationalized properties after the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.
This organization totally agreed with the Central Committee’s First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party, Raul Castro, in his assertion that the US blockade, which has been damaging the country for nearly 60 years is the most important obstacle to the economic development and well-being of Cuban people.
The group denounced, ‘Trump’s government continues to threaten to invade Venezuela, which rejected the US administration’s excuse that Cuba has a military presence in the South American country. The Coalition added that Cuba´s presence of physicians and teachers in Venezuela are not a threat at all.
The Metro DC Coalition assured that The US hypocritically keeps hundreds of military bases worldwide to reinforce imperialism, including Guantanamo, which Washington refuses to abandon despite violating international law.
What is Cuba’s crime? This country is the world’s great byword for not surrendering to US imperialism, the Coalition set out and called for ending US blockade, ending all US restrictions and sanctions against Cuba, and it also advocated for respecting the self-determination of both Cuba and Venezuela.
