Guantanamo, Cuba, May 30(Prensa Latina) University students from Cuba and Latin America will expose their experiences on the impact of socio-cultural projects on communities from June 8 to 10, the organizers reported today.
The 4th Scientific Workshop on the Management of Projects with Socio cultural Impact on Local Development, which will be held at the University of Guantánamo (UG) under the slogan ‘A look at social commitment’, will be a propitious setting for an exchange on these issues, Daniel Fernandez, the event’s coordinator, told Prensa Latina.
A master lecture on ‘Social service as an indispensable complement to the integral formation of university students’, by Susana Angelica Pastrana, president of the Inter-University Commission of Social Service of Mexico, will open the scientific sessions of the workshop, the cultural source explained.
Themes such as the impact of extension projects by foreign students in Cuban universities; methodological experiences in the improvement of these university projects; the projects and their transforming role in the community will be discussed in plenary sessions, Fernandez also told Prensa Latina.
Delegates from Brazil, El Salvador, Mexico, Russia and representatives of all Cuban universities will exchange during three days on these and other topics, visiting communities and places of socio-economic interest in this province of eastern Cuba.
This workshop, which is being held for the fourth time in this region, was part of the student project Mochila al hombro (Backpack on your shoulder), an initiative created by a group of Guantanamo students to carry out community work with an integrative approach, in which students from different degrees are included, the coordinator pointed out.
