United Kingdom and Cuba link through dance

Havana, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) Loipa Araujo, associate artistic director of English National Ballet (ENB), will share on Tuesday from London a virtual class with several Cuban dance companies, on occasion of British Culture Week 2020.

At the request of this event, Araujo, considered one of the four jewels of Cuban ballet, will offer a virtual class from the ENB headquarters that will be received at the same time by Cuban companies such as National Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Acosta Dance and Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba.

The event has been made possible by a coordination of the UK Embassy in Cuba, which is developing a wide program of events during the eighth edition of the British Culture Week.

Miguel Altunaga, Cuban dancer and choreographer at British company Rambert, will premiere virtually his work ‘Corta Distancia’ (Short Distance), which will be broadcast on the British Embassy webpage in Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@UKinCuba).

The British Culture Week in Cuba includes multiple activities, from December 12 to 20. The event opened with a theatrical performance related to the magical world of Lewis Carroll, under the title ‘Alice looks for the white rabbit’, from the Teatro de las Estaciones puppet company.

A virtual concert by young British singer Calum Scott, known since 2015 for his participation in Britain’s Got Talent show competition and for having reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, will take place the last day of the event.
