Havana, Apr 13 (Prensa Latina) UN Special Rapporteur María Grazia Giammarinaro was informed today about details of the work of the National Center for Sex Education (Cenesex), during a meeting in that institution held in the context of her official visit to Cuba.
According to the deputy director of the organization, Manuel Vázquez, the UN official expert on rights of victims of human trafficking, especially women and children, congratulated the installation for its teaching, research and assistance.
The exchange was an important opportunity to report on the work done on issues related to human rights, violence, and particularly in the area of human trafficking, especially from the perspective of prevention, said Vázquez.
‘We report on the progress in generating spaces for debate and dialogue, and what we want to do through the implementation of an action plan to prevent and combat human trafficking, and the protection of victims, in line with the efforts of the nation in that sense’, Vázquez said.
He emphasized that Giammarinaro urged them to think and constantly rethink the work, and to focus their attention on subtle, covert and non-traditional forms, in which sexual and gender violence are expressed.
