United Nations, Apr 20 (Prensa Latina) UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed that a global coalition is needed to develop a vaccine to fight the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, a pandemic that currently disrupts life on the entire planet.
This vaccine must become available and affordable for everyone, everywhere, that is, it must be considered a global public good, the UN chief posted on his Twitter account.
Precisely this Monday is the last day established at the UN General Assembly to analyze a proposal presented by the Mexican representation, which advocates for international cooperation in order to guarantee, under conditions of equality, global access to medicines, vaccines and medical equipment required to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
That draft resolution has been co-sponsored by 164 countries, of 193 comprising the UN, as Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador told the press of his nation.
The initiative urges all UN member States to immediately prevent speculation and all those provisions that hide or limit access to products necessary to curb the pandemic.
