Kiev, Jan 22 (Prensa Latina) Victor Pasak, president of the Ukraine-Cuba Friendship Association, reiterated his support for Cuba and denounced its inclusion by the United States in a spurious list of countries that sponsor terrorism, diplomatic sources indicated on Friday.
Pasak conveyed in a letter sent to the Cuban Embassy in Ukraine the outrage by the aforementioned association regarding the decision taken by outgoing US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Upon highlighting the humanistic nature by Cuba, the Association’s president said, ‘Ukrainians, more than anyone else, have been blessed with the humanistic nature of the freedom-loving nation, which was the first nation to reach out to help Ukraine,’ who suffered the tragedy of the nuclear power plant, located in Chernobyl.
More than 24,000 children were accepted by Cuba to treat and recover without any financial compensation, Pasak recalled.
The Friendship Association conveyed its hope that after the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States, this ‘cynical and hypocritical’ decision will be immediately reversed, and a rapprochement between the Cuban and US governments will happen, he said.
The Ukraine-Cuba Friendship Association was founded in 1992. Its objective is to strengthen friendship and develop solidarity, cultural, educational and humanitarian ties between the Ukrainian and Cuban peoples.
