Three Cubans Among the Best in World Boxing this Year

Havana.- Cuban boxers Erislandy Savón, Rolando Acebal and Javier Ibáñez conquered awards of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) in its different categories, confirmed today official sources.

According to a note sent by the AIBA to the Cuban Federation of the discipline, Savón (91 kilograms) was acclaimed as best competidor of the 4th Boxing World Series (WSB) where he won his eight fights.

On his part, Acebal was selected as most outstanding in boxing technique, after leading his team to victory with a score of 63 wins and only 18 losses, in its debut in semiprofessional boxing.

Meanwhile, Ibáñez (52 kg) was chosen as the best juvenile boxer of the planet, after he was crowned at the World Championship in the category as well as in the Youth Olympic Games.

According to an AIBA information, the prizes will be delivered next November 24 in the South Korean city of Jeju, after closing the World Championship for women. (PL)
