The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil Film Screening and Discussion

In the 1990s Cubans responded to a “Peak Oil” crisis due to the fall of the Soviet Union. With the loss of food and oil imports, Cuba transitioned to a low-energy society. In this documentary, filmmakers Faith Morgan and Pat Murphy met with individual Cubans to learn how they organized as a community to implement small-scale renewable energy projects, created small organic farms and urban gardens, and shifted to new modes of transportation.

Paul Rockwell will lead a discussion following the film.
