Rob Manfred, commissioner of Major League Baseball (MLB), spent months engrossed in taking his league to Cuba, today he can sleep peacefully, his dream has become true: the national team of Cuba and a branch of the Baltimore Orioles will face in Havana in a friendly match.
According to Antonio Becalli, president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, the exhibition match does not have official date but it is already agreed to do it on the island during the remainder of 2015. He also reported that in recent months other Major League franchises have been interested in facing the Cuban national team.
Thus, Manfred’s assertions were not in vain. A few days ago at a press conference he had expressed: “I would like to say we will do something in Cuba in the spring. I am still optimist about it”.
