Bern, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) The National Council of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland on Tuesday approved a resolution denouncing the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for almost six decades.
The document, proposed by the Foreign Policy Committee and supported by 98 votes in the lower house of Parliament, advocates reinforcing Switzerland’s active role in initiatives to demand the cessation of aggressions and sanctions against Cuba.
In addition, it asks the authorities of this country to expose the impact of the North American policy and to exert greater pressure on the United Nations so that Joe Biden’s administration eliminates the blockade.
Likewise, it advocates implementing measures to prevent US decisions from affecting trade relations between Cuba and Switzerland.
The resolution was approved by the Commission in November 2020 in response to an initiative of the Swiss-Cuba Association, MediCuba Switzerland and six other solidarity groups.
