Paris.- More than 15,000 people enjoyed the concert performed by the popular Cuban band Los Van Van in France, where they celebrated their 45th anniversary and at the same time, paid tribute to its founder, Maestro Juan Formell.
The audience that filled the area surrounding the lake of Enghien-les-Bains city, located north of the capital, sang and danced until dawn today to rhythm of the famous group in a presentation that lasted more than four hours.
‘We really felt very happy with the job done tonight. It’s amazing how the audience gathered here knows the repertoire of Van Van ‘, told Prensa Latina the former vocalist of this orchestra Pedrito Calvo.
Asked about the legacy of Formell he said that the teacher was a musician out of range as a composer, arranger and as a person, he was an authentic Cuban and so his music will transcend for a long time.
Pedrito Calvo, Angel Bonne and Isaac Delgado were among the guests at the concert, co-produced by the director of the Center for the Arts in Enghien-les-Bains, Dominique Roland, and Abdala studios, from Cuba.
“I feel a deep emotion, because the presentation that should have been done with Juan Formell, ended up being a tribute to this great artist who died on May 1st ‘, Roland added.
‘The legacy my father left is very big. For over four decades the band has remained the preference of Cubans, “said the artist’s son and current director of the band, Samuel Formell.
