Statement of Syrian-Cuban Parliamentary Friendship Committee

Damascus, May 27 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian-Cuban Parliamentary Friendship Committee issued on Wednesday a statement on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of deep-rooted historical relations between the two countries in the fight against imperialism.

We reaffirm our ‘condemnation of the blockade and unilateral sanctions against the Republic of Cuba, at a time when the world is living under the weight of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis,’ the document states

Likewise, the statement denounces ‘aggressive policies against Cuba and the world in general, which aim to interfere in the internal affairs of each country to take sovereignty, integrity and independence away from them.’

The statement also ratifies ‘the need for the two countries to work to continue collaborating in the different parliamentary, political, economic and popular spheres at the service of the interests of the two peoples.’

In that sense, it highlights such aims ‘especially in this year in which the 55th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two countries is celebrated.’
