Caracas, Dec 6 (Prensa Latina) The 11th Meeting of the Venezuela-Cuba Friendship and Mutual Solidarity Movement ratified the support for Presidents Nicolas Maduro and Miguel Diaz-Canel, the organization highlighted in a statement released on Twitter on Monday.
Participants in the event, held this weekend through a videoconference, described the two nations’ leaders as guarantors of the transition to socialism and of the transformations to a more humane society.
They also demanded that the United States Government end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed for more than six decades on Cuba, a measure that was tightened by 243 coercive measures adopted by the Donald Trump administration (2017-202), which persist under the Joe Biden’s mandate.
The solidarity meeting demanded that Washington immediately and unconditionally repeal the declaration of Venezuela as an unusual and extraordinary threat to US security, as well as all the punitive actions taken against that country.
The meeting also called for an end to the financing and promotion of terrorism and subversion by the US Government and its allies against the Cuban and Bolivarian revolutions, in order to cause social and political violence to reduce popular support for those processes.
The final declaration of the meeting recognized the position of international brotherhood expressed in the solidarity cooperation maintained by Cuba, with the most recent example in the fight against Covid-19, with the dispatch of 57 medical brigades from the Henry Reeve Contingent to some 40 countries.
It also highlighted the altruistic work done by Cuban doctors in Venezuela during the last two decades and in the fight against the pandemic, in addition to enhancing Cuba’s scientific capacity with the development of several vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
