Solidarity Groups Demand End to US Blockade on Cuba in Mexico City

Mexico, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) The United States should cease the economic, financial and commercial blockade on Cuba, the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MMSC) demanded on Saturday at the US Embassy here.

We marched in support of Cuba, against the inhumane blockade of the Cuban people, MMSC Director Jesus Escamilla told Prensa Latina.

Escorted by traffic police officers from Mexico City, the marchers reached the US Embassy as they carried banners and flags with the image of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

We are also celebrating Fidel’s 90th birthday. His legacy is a conquest of Cuba and other peoples of the world, Escamilla said.

Representatives of social organizations and Mexican political parties participated in the march. It began in the Benito Juarez Hemicycle, in the historic heart of this capital.

While Mexican teachers protest daily against the government reform that affect their rights, Cuba continues setting an example in education and in support to other nations in the battle against illiteracy.

The statement was made by a representative of the Mexican Communist Party at an improvised platform in front of the US Embassy, where solidarity voices with Cuba were heard.
