Slovakian MEP supports awarding Nobel Prize to Cuban doctors

Bratislava, Feb 17 (Prensa Latina) Slovakian MEP Miroslav Ciz on Wednesday recognized the internationalist work of the Cuban Henry Reeve Medical Contingent, assuring that its members are worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.

‘I decided to support the nomination of the Cuban healthcare professionals for their selfless humanitarian work, saving lives since 2005. Since that year, the contingent has played an active role in increasing international cooperation in the health sector,’ he noted.

‘Such a noble activity should not go unrecognized, especially in Covid-19 times, when they have proven that solidarity is the only way,’ he added.

In that way, Ciz joined a group of personalities and organizations that support the awarding of the Nobel Prize to Cuban doctors, nurses and technicians specialized in emergencies who help dozens of countries.

In that country, the Vice President of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Juraj Blanar, the parliamentarian of the Smer-SD Party Lubos Blaha and the director of the Institute of Political Sciences of the Academy of Sciences Peter Dinus, support the initiative.

In addition, the president of the Association of Diabetology of this country, Emil Martinka, and the Association Friends of Cuba in Slovakia, among others, considered the awarding of the prize to the Henry Reeve Medical Contingent to be fair.
