Salem baseball team headed to Cuba

imagesSALEM, Ore. — The Corban University baseball team is getting ready to take the trip of a lifetime. The Warriors are going to Cuba for a ministry trip.

“Being able to combine baseball and a mission trip is unique,” head coach Jeff McKay said. “It’ll be a wonderful trip.”

The team will visit churches and play against teams from local towns in Cuba.

Sophomore Vince Gonzalez IV will be the second person from his family to visit Cuba. His father was there a decade ago to help build a church.

“I think it’s a blessing, I don’t want to miss it,” the younger Gonzalez said.

The team leaves Salem on May 29 and will spend about a week in Cuba. You can learn more about the trip and Corban athletics here.
