Rigoberta Menchu Symbolically Votes against US Blockade on Cuba

Guatemala, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu, good friend of Cuba and its struggle for a fairer world, expressed her support for the cause against the blockade set up by the United States against Cuba, describing it as a genocide before the international community.

During a moving ceremony to commemorate the 25 years of the Nobel Peace Prize granted for her fight in favor of the indigenous people’s rights, Menchu gladly joined the hastag NoMasBloqueo, fostered by the Cuban Foreign Ministry around the world.

At the request of Cuban Ambassador in Guatemala Carlos de Cespedes Piedra, Menchu agreed to be taken a picture while symbolically voting against the blockade, few days before the vote at the General Assembly of the United Nations on the report that gathers the damages caused by the long economic, commercial and financial blockade.

Last year, Cuba won a resounding victory against the blockade at UN with the support of 191 countries, and the abstention of the United States and Israel.
