President of Venezuela calls for solidarity in face of pandemic

Caracas, Mar 11 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Thursday reiterated the call on the international community to join forces to overcome the global crisis caused by Covid-19.

The Venezuelan head of State noted on Twitter that the pandemic has transformed the world reality and stripped the neoliberal system.

‘From Venezuela we reiterate, only through unity and solidarity it is possible to win successfully this unprecedented battle for the health of humanity,’ Maduro tweeted.

Speaking at the special session of the United Nations General Assembly on the impact of Covid-19 in December, Maduro advocated for strengthening multilateralism, solidarity and cooperation to counter the effects of the pandemic.

The Venezuelan president asserted that the global epidemiological emergency brought to light great vulnerabilities, in both developing and rich and powerful countries.

The dignitary highlighted the importance of declaring the Covid-19 vaccines public assets of global benefit by the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO).

‘This pandemic will only be defeated through a joint response by humanity, based on science,’ said the president, who recognized the leading role of the WHO in confronting the health situation.
