Caracas, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro ratifed on Tuesday his commitment to strengthen the agricultural food sector on the occasion of the celebration of World Food Day.
In this regard, the Bolivarian leader recalled through a message on his Twitter account that the nation resists an imperial siege that directly attacks the development of this sector.
‘On World Food Day, we reiterate our commitment -in the face of the economic and financial blockade of imperialism- to continue promoting national production to guarantee the security and food sovereignty of our people,’ he wrote.
Since 1979, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has established this date with the objective of raising awareness among the people about the world food problem and strengthening solidarity in the fight against hunger, malnutrition and poverty.
The event also coincides with the date of the founding of FAO in 1945, an organization that works to achieve the goal of Zero Hunger by 2030 as part of the second Sustainable Development Goal.
