Portugal Social Movements Demand Novo Banco Unblocs Venezuelan Money

Caracas, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) Social movements in Portugal on Monday demanded the return of Venezuelan financial assets confiscated by that country”s Novo Banco, according to Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza.

The day of peaceful protest was convened at the headquarters of the institution that holds more than 1.5 billion euros of the government of Caracas, earmarked for the purchase of food and medicine, said the head of Foreign Affairs on Twitter.

For its part, the official account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the demonstrators showed solidarity with the Venezuelan people to immediately demand the resources, taken away in a forced manner.

In another recent message, Arreaza called to join the campaign launched last May 30 by the International Democratic Lawyers Association (IADL).

The organization published an online request to demand the return of funds, blocked as a result of the economic and commercial siege imposed by the U.S. government.
