Over 1 300 reporters will cover Papal Visit to Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 18 (acn) Over 1 thousand foreign reporters, both on temporary visa and permanently accredited here, will cover the visit of Pope Francis to the island.

The director of media, communication and image at the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Alejandro Gonzalez said Thursday in Havana that the journalists represent 22 media outlets from 31 countries.

Another 300 Cuban reporters are also accredited for the visit of Pope Francis, who will arrive here on Saturday to officiate mass on Sunday, and later will depart for eastern Cuba, with scheduled visits to the cities of Holguin and Santiago de Cuba.

Gonzalez inaugurated the Press Room set up at Havana´s National Hotel to cover the event and added that another two similar facilities are prepared in the two eastern cities where the Pope will visit.

The press rooms count on all necessary technology and internet connections and TV transmission equipment for the reporters to do their job, said the official and announced the operational website dedicated to the Papal visit at
