Old Cars Enrich Cuban Tourism with Rally

Havana, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) An old cars rally on Havana streets is enriching the Cuban tourist scene that already offers a lot of attraction through rides in car from other eras that run as if they were were new.

According to a report in Juventud Rebelde newspaper, the old cars club named ‘A lo Cubano’ is carrying out today a route or Rally starting and finishing in the parking lot of the famous Tropicana Cabaret in this capital.

The route is made up of 50 cars and five motorcycles that will travel 55 kilometers through different municipalities of Havana which will celebrate its 498th anniversary four days from now.

The tour includes streets with good traffic and places of historic, cultural and tourist interest.

The organizers insisted that it is not a speed competition. The duration of the route will be more than two hours, and each car takes a pilot and a copilot.

The president of the ‘A lo Cubano’ old cars club, Alberto Gutierrez, said that since its foundation, on October 4, 2003, the group has had the objective of enhancing knowledge and the image of the family and national automobile heritage.

Old and classic cars run on Cuban streets, especially in Havana, and tourists can take a one-hour-long ride to interesting places. Many of these cars are extremely colorful, with well-preserved bodies and striking colors.
