OAS is U.S. Imperialism’s Greatest Lackey, says Venezuela

By Luis Beatón

Caracas, Jun 7 (Prensa Latina) After failing once more this week in promoting the aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Organization of American States (OAS) was confirmed as ‘the greatest lackey of U.S. imperialism’.

That is how Adan Chavez, president of the Commission of Foreign Affairs of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), defined it when he resumed the rejection by local sectors of U.S. plans to overthrow the Bolivarian government.

They are the same foundations denounced by Bolivian president, Evo Morales, when he warns that Washingtobn ‘only looks to forcé a military intervention and for that is using as an excuse the application of the Democratic Charter of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Despite the threats and pressures, that policy was defeated in its illegal pretension of imposing more sanctions and expel Venezuela from the Organization of American States (OAS), said Chavez. ‘They cannot expel us from somewhere we are not’, he said.

The U.S. defeat received here widespread display for being considered ‘a great defeat’, said Venezuelan professor David Rojas, when analyzing for Venezolana de Television TV station the debate and results of the 48th General Assembly of OAS.

The fiasco occurred despite the media display against the homeland of Simon Bolivar, where diplomatic spokespersons advanced: ‘We have the 18 votes necessary to start the process’ to expel Venezuela.

The sources saiod it was around the corner the summons of a special session of the General Assembly destined to consider the situation in Venezuela and start the process to oust the country from the organization.

That was included in a resolution consensuated by the 14 countries of the Lima Group and that at the end, did not obtain the necessary two-thirds (24 votes), although they would not be needed, as Caracas for more than a year started procedures to abandon the forum whose authorities

describe as ‘infamous and servile’ to the interests of the White House.

Not even pressures through its Vice President Mike Pence, nor the vote of countries following the march started by a Latin American Vice President, which was described as a ‘rug dog’ which moves its tail to the White House, as it was denounced last night by Vice President of the Socialist United Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello.

‘The OAS has been an instrument of the United States to sow panic in America’, he said criticizing the failed attempt.

The Caracas government asked to abandon OAS in April, 2017, although its exit will not be effective until 2019, nevertheless, president Donald Trump’s administration wants to oust Venezuela from where it is not, as said leaders of Chavism.

”Venezuela exits this organization precisely because what it really does is generate conditions for intervention, interference and violation of Public International Law’, also indicated Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza.

Only since the beginning of 2018, Venezuela was attacked in nine occasions counting the special session of May 7, where Pence participated.

Before this, the Minister of Information and Communication, Jorge Rodriguez, advanced the eve that President Nicolas Maduro will give a blunt response to the U.S. attempts to withdraw his country from OAS.
