Nine Cubans will participate in karate at Veracruz 2014

Cuba has already set nine karatekas to compete in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, including 5 men and 4 women. They were selected from the competition with Mexico team, which served as their preparation for the sporting event to start in November.

Listmar Licea, 60 kilograms, Leodán Deivi Hernandez (67), Lester Javier Zamora (75), Dennis Pelayo (84) and Jander Tiril (+84) make up the men’s team, the coach is Francisco Garcia.

For the ladies will compete Yanelis Góngora (55 kilos), Yanet Franquiz (61), Cirelys Martinez (68) and Yoandra Moreno (+68), all under the direction of trainer Eliezer Peñalver.

The confrontation with the Mexican team was the only chance to come up and train with a team from the first level to the Cuban representation needed to perform major battles to jeopardize the technical and tactical elements.

According to Garcia, despite winning 12 games in the men’s sector, the result may seem misleading, because the picture will not be beaten on Centro Caribbean lid, from November 14 to 30.

Among females, clashes culminated tied with eight wins for each cast.
