Managua, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) The Ministers of Education of Nicaragua and Cuba, Miriam Raudez and Ena Elsa Velazquez, respectively, have signed this Wednesday a collaboration agreement in this area, which includes a group of basic issues.
The signing of the agreement took place in the context of a meeting of the Cuban Minister, who on Wednesday is celebrating the last day of her working visit to Nicaragua, with the National Council of Sandinista Youth July 19.
Raudez commented that it was the formalization of an agreement, since the relations between the two countries in educational matters are based on the Literacy Crusade of the 80s and were always present in the two terms of Sandinista power.
This agreement has a lot to do with the technical-scientific support that the Cuban experience will provide us, she said.
Ena Elsa Velazquez told Prensa Latina that given the achievements of the Nicaraguan education system in the past decade, it will be very important to continue collaboration in the work areas covered by the agreement.
She added that Nicaragua needs to make much more progress in teacher training for primary schools.
The signing of this agreement is a starting point for continuing to strengthen working relations between the two ministries and also between Cuba and Nicaragua over the past 40 years, Velazquez concluded.
