Several ex-Latin American leaders and other left-leaning politicians from around the world showed support for AMLO ahead of his victory at the polls.
June 2 (teleSUR) Several heads of state and government congratulate Mexico’s President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) on a stunning victory in Sunday’s elections.
The Morena party’s leftist candidate won the presidency with at over 53% of the vote, according to a preliminary Quick Count released by the electoral authority, National Electoral Institute (INE). Several ex-Latin American leaders and other left-leaning politicians from around the world showed support for AMLO ahead of his victory at the polls.
A number of leaders from across the globe took to Twitter to hail AMLO on a resounding triumph at the polls.
After initial results were revealed, former presidential contenders Ricardo Anaya, Jose Antonio Meade and Jaime “El Bronco” Rodriguez all conceded defeat, recognizing Lopez Obrador’s victory.
