Mexican university dedicates a week to Cuba

Mexico, Jan 29 (Prensa Latina) The Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM), Cuajimalpa Unit, in the Mexican capital, will dedicate since today a week to Cuban history and culture.

This event opened with the exhibit ‘Cuba in cinema,’ in which famous posters and feature films of the island’s film industry are shown.

UAM’s General Rector Eduardo Peñalosa highlighted the historical relations between Mexico and Cuba, their tradition of brotherhood, and the extensive bilateral scientific and academic cooperation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Cuban Ambassador in Mexico Pedro Núñez Mosquera, who gave a lecture on the historical ties between both nations.

The diplomat highlighted the transit of illustrious figures of Cuban art and independence thought such as poet Jose Maria Heredia and National Hero Jose Marti Perez, to whom this event is dedicated, on the 167th anniversary of his birth.

These activities include other conferences on achievements of Cuban society, Jose Marti’s liberation phylosophy, and Cuba-Mexico bilateral relations. There will also be concerts, performances by musical groups and the exhibition and sale of books, crafts and typical food.
