Medical supplies purchased in China to fight Covid-19 arrives in Cuba

Beijing, Apr 24 (Prensa Latina) An aircraft with medical devices purchased in China arrived in Cuba to strengthen capacities to fight the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the island’s Ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira said on Friday.

This is the first flight chartered by Havana to transport essential supplies to prevent, control and treat the deadly disease, the diplomat told exclusively Prensa Latina.

The plane arrived in Cuba some few hours ago, with items such as facemasks, protective clothing, test kits and sample transport devices, the latter are a key factor from the clinical management viewpoint.

The cargo aircraft came from Shanghai municipality (east) with all required logistics, included the cold chain to guarantee its arrival in Cuba in optimal conditions.

Pereira emphasized that the operation is part of the great efforts Cuba is carrying out to ensure the provision of materials to hospitals to save the lives of those who get sick with coronavirus, despite the difficulties derived from the US financial and commercial blockade.
