Massive Attendance of Voters Distinguishes Mid-term Elections

Las Tunas.- A total of 360,812 citizens with right to active suffrage cast their ballots at the polls on Sunday to elect their representatives to the Municipal Assemblies of the People’s Power, according to statements of Argel Pérez Garlobo, Secretary of the Provincial Electoral Commission.

The figure represents the 90.71 percent of those included in the electoral registers, permanently updated during the elections.

What happened in the territory on April 19 confirmed the democratic character of the process, characterized by the massive presence of voters in polling stations, and the participation of more than 8,600 officials selected by the mass organizations, which ensured the implementation of the procedures established in the Electoral Law.

“Voting today for Cuba is the opportunity to show the enemies of the Revolution that it is invincible and is supported by all our people,” said Ariel Santana Santiesteban, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and its first secretary in Las Tunas after exercises his right to vote. His words confirm the reasons that contributed here to the quality of the electoral process.
