Havana (Prensa Latina) The Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (LADC) company announced that it will participate in the Ballet Beyond Borders competition, an event based in the United States, in early January 2021.
Traditionally, the event promotes cultural exchange on different dance styles and the way to foster development of arts by companies, programs and organizations from different countries.
Part of the Children and Youth Ballet, as well as the LADC professional company will test their skills in the online competition of the event, held in the US city of Los Angeles.
Teacher, Director and Choreographer Lizt Alfonso has participated in this competition in two editions, where, invited by the organizers, she lectured on her experience as director and artistic leader, gave master classes and was part of the jury of the competition.
Beyond Borders encompasses styles from classical dance to hip hop, and its winners perform at a star gala on the closing day.
For her social work, both in the company and the school, the director and her team received the Spotlight Award by the USA President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, granted by the White House in 2016 by then US First Lady Michelle Obama.
