Legacy of Fidel and Chávez in ALBA-TCP highlighted in Cuba

Havana, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez highlighted today the permanent imprint of Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez in the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Treaty of Commerce of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP) .

In a message on Twitter, the Cuban Foreign Minister recalled that today, on the 15th anniversary of the alliance founded by Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, the XVII Summit of the integration platform is held.

Rodriguez also noted the validity of the legacy of both commanders in what he defined as 15 years in defense of peace and integration.

This Alliance summit focused its discussions on the analysis of the regional situation and the role of ALBA-TCP in a context characterized by the increasing aggressiveness of the extreme right in the region with the support of the United States and the resurgence of the blows against progressive and democratic governments.

It should be remembered that the Summit takes place a month after the coup in Bolivia against President Evo Morales, the popular anti-neoliberal mobilizations in Chile and Colombia, and the increase in Washington’s hostility against Cuba.

It was also known that leaders such as the Venezuelan, Nicolás Maduro, and senior political representatives present at the event will also celebrate the XV anniversary of the regional mechanism founded on December 14, 2004.

ALBA-TCP is a mechanism for consultation and integration, which defends the principles of respect for sovereignty, solidarity, complementarity, justice, peace and cooperation.
