Latin American Constructors Condemn US Blockade on Cuba

Havana, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) Latin American constructors have condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than 50 years and it is intensified today.

The delegates to the International Colloquium: integration and action unity of workers in the construction sector against the capital and its neoliberal philosophy approved a joint declaration in rejection of that hostile policy implemented by Washington and repudiated by 191 countries.

Representatives from Panama, Colombia, Chile, Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Argentina enriched the debate with opinions about the failed White House strategy.

Ulises Guilarte, secretary general of the Cuban Workers Federation (CTC), warned that there is a strong offensive of capitalism with the purpose of dismantling the conquests of the working class in Latin America.

The battle to win is in the field of ideas: ‘We should not accept that workers assume positions of acceptance and conformism facing the imperial media campaigns,’ Guilarte said.

The CTC top leader urged to build in consensus a continental platform of struggle that assumes the current tools as instruments of mobilization.

The event concluded with a call to union unity to continue workers’ mobilizations in the face of a hostile scenario, Granma newspaper reported.
