United Nations, Mar 19 (Prensa Latina) Once again, Latin America has testified its boundless commitment to unity, cooperation, multilateralism and a transforming recovery, Alicia Bárcena, ECLAC’s executive secretary, said today.
Upon concluding the 4th meeting of the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development 2021, Alicia Bárcena, head of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), informed about the consensus achieved for the overly urgent construction of just and sustainable societies and face inequality.
‘We cannot keep on doing the same thing and expect separate results. It is critical to take action again to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the context is too complex, but we are convinced that meeting the 2030 Agenda is more necessary than ever,’ she stressed.
Alicia Bárcena said that Latin America and the Caribbean cannot continue bearing its structural injustice. It is time to put an end to the culture of privilege, inequalities and to root out poverty, she said.
