Las Tunas’ Doctor Ernesto Guevara Hospital Expands its Services

Las Tunas.- The Dr. Ernesto Guevara Hospital has doubled its services and conducted more than 384,000 surgeries after35 years of its inauguration by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Recognitions to the institution and workers who have excelled in the course of three decades and a half in the hospital and in international missions were delivered during the act commemorating the anniversary.

The event also marked the provincial homage to Major General Antonio Maceo and the Heroic Guerrilla Ernesto Guevara on the occasion of the 170 and 87 anniversaries of their respective births.

The most important medical center of the territory has saluted this June 14th with a program aimed at its restoration, which will continue in the remainder of the year, mainly in the Central Surgical Unit, which includes eight operating rooms was proposed.

The “Ernesto Guevara” reached its 35th anniversary with the total the repair of the tower A that included internal medicine, neonatology and chemotherapy services as well as a room for health tourism.

Henceforth it also scheduled the repair of the area of sterilization, the intensive care unit and the births room, as well as the tower F, including the services of intermediate care, oncohemathology and clinical pathology.

Ariel Santana Santiesteban, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and its first secretary in Las Tunas, recognized the work of doctors, nurses and technicians to preserve the health of the population and called redoubling efforts to achieve a service of excellence.

A scientific conference and meetings with internationalist workers and combatants, as well as visits to historical sites and were developed as part of the program for the celebration.
