Japanese art will strengthen cultural ties with Cuba

Havana, Nov 23 (Latin Press) On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Cuba, the play Invitation to Kabuki will be an approach to traditional Japanese theater, diplomatic sources announced on Saturday.

Considered one of the most traditional cultural expressions of Japan, the show, directed by renowned actor Kyozo Nakamura, will reflect that ancient art, which is characterized by its stylized drama and the use of elaborate makeup.

Nakamura has a prolific professional career as a member of the Kabuki Actor Training Center of the Arts Council of Japan and a member of the National Theater. He has participated in conferences and demonstrations of Kabuki theater in Europe and the United States. There will be two free special shows at the Marti Theater on November 29 and 30, and they will be dedicated to Havana on its 500th anniversary.

Japan and Cuba have strong diplomatic relations that date back to 1902, and both nations have deepened cooperation and cultural exchange.
