Rome, Jun 13 (Prensa Latina) The Italian airline Neos inaugurated today a new route between this city and Havana, which will contribute to promote Cuba as a tourist destination, according to Mirta Granda, ambassador of the island in this country.
The Cuban diplomat bid farewell to the first of the flights that will connect both capitals every Monday, in a ceremony attended by Federico Scriboni, Head of Aviation Business Development at Rome-Fiumicino Airport.
Granda wished travelers an unforgettable stay in Cuba, and wished them to enjoy its beaches of crystal-clear water and fine sand; its culture, history and traditions, as well as the aroma of its coffee, rum and tobacco, but above all its people, reasons that make it unique.
The new route will be operated with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft by Neos, an airline of the Alpitour Group, which already had weekly routes to Havana and Holguin, but only from the northern Milan-Malpensa Airport.
In the opinion of the executives of this prestigious group founded in 1947 and based in Turin, the new connection from Rome is fundamental for the development of the tourist business, particularly with respect to the needs of the central and southern Italian market.
Franco Campazzo, product manager of the operator Alpitour World, who recently traveled to the Caribbean nation to participate in the latest edition of the FitCuba Tourism Fair, stressed that on the island: “I found a much stronger destination than the pre-Covid one”.
