In UN Cuba Condemns actions contrary to international peace and security

United Nations, May 18 (Radio Cadena Agramonte) – The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the UN, Anayansi Rodríguez, condemned the unilateral actions of some countries such as the United States, which damage and obstruct the maintenance of international peace and security.

Speaking at an open meeting of the UN Security Council, the Cuban ambassador said Thursday as the unilateral use of force against sovereign States and enforcement actions undermine global stability.

It is also regrettable that the Security Council, by the obstruction of one of its members (United States), may not be able to take a stand when required by the situation, as was the case before the Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians in Gaza, she said.

The same thing happened in Syria, and it is unacceptable that the body of 15 members remain unmoved by the aggressions of foreign powers against that Arab territory, added Rodríguez.

Meanwhile, she said, the United States announces withdrawal of relevant agreements for the international community, which are aimed at strengthening peace and development.

For its part, Cuba reaffirms the commitment to multilateralism and requires adherence to the principles embodied in the Charter of the United Nations, such as the sovereign equality of States, respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, she stressed.

In addition to the non-intervention in the domestic affairs and to refrain from the threat or use of force, said the Cuban diplomatic.

The observance of these principles is the essence of international law, emphasized the ambassador and criticized the use of other conceptions which go against the pillars of the UN. Such is the case of the terms limited sovereignty, humanitarian intervention or preventive war.

These are used by the agendas of domination to justify its interventionist and aggressive actions, complained to the Security Council.

Rodriguez requested to respect the decisions of peoples and their right to choose the government and the institutions that represent: the attempt to impose laws and patterns, manipulation and double standards only destroy the international standards, she emphasized.

Cuba condemns the efforts to replace by force or by other coercive methods to the national authorities democratically elected, he emphasized.

In addition, the Cuban representative advocated establishing rules to ensure the participation of the peoples in all decisions that affect them.

In this regard, reaffirmed the commitment of Cuba to continue to work together with the UN in the establishment of a democratic and fair international order.

Since the morning of this Thursday, the Security Council held an open debate on International Law in the context of the maintenance of international peace and security, which assists the Polish President, Andrzej Doubt. (PL) (Photo: File)
