Moscow, Nov 24 (Prensa Latina) The importance of increasing and strengthening cooperation between Russia and Cuba in the teaching and humanitarian spheres was highlighted on Sunday in an event dedicated to International Students’ Day, held in this capital.
The rector of the Moscow State Linguistic University, Dr. Irina Kraeva, explained that the international day is held on November 17th, which marks the 80th anniversary of events in Prague, when nine Czech students were arrested and shot by the Nazi regime.
Speaking at the event, Kraeva highlighted the ties established with Cuban students and the tradition of cooperation with the island, where many Russian graduates went to undertake training, as did Cuban Russian-language graduates in this country.
Likewise, she stated that there are now agreements with the University of Informatics Sciences of Cuba and the Translation and Interpretation Service Team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba.
In February of next year, we will travel to Cuba to sign cooperation agreements with other Cuban universities, she added.
Meanwhile, Cuban Ambassador to Russia, Gerardo Peñalver, stressed that both countries are experiencing the best moment of their ties in the last 30 years and referred to the progress in areas such as tourism, since this year 185,000 Russians are expected to arrive in Cuba.
