Guest from Cuba added to performance

The Sarasota Cuban Ballet School has just announced that Francois Llorente, a rising star with the Cuban National Ballet Company, has been added to the guest artist lineup for the annual “On Stage” performance at the Sarasota Opera House Saturday (July 30).

Llorente attended SCBS’s Summer Intensive program in 2014 and danced in that year’s first “On Stage” presentation. Shortly thereafter, he graduated from the Cuban school and immediately joined the internationally renowned Cuban company, where he quickly advanced from corps de ballet to soloist. He has toured with the company in Canada, Portugal, Puerto Rico and Spain.

The program also features pre-professional students from both the SCBS, founded by Cuban natives Ariel Serrano and Wilmian Hernandez, and Cuban National Ballet School. A previously announced featured guest is Serrano and Hernandez’s son, Francisco Serrano, who will begin his professional career with the Royal Ballet in London next month.

“On Stage” begins at 7 p.m. at the Sarasota Opera House, 61 N. Pineapple Ave. For tickets, call 328-1300 or go to
