Saint George, Feb 4 (Prensa Latina) The National Democratic Congress (NDC) party of Grenada on Thursday ratifies the strong position of condemnation to the US blockade against Cuba, expressed its leader, Adrian Thomas.
During a meeting held on Wednesday here with the Cuban ambassador, Iraida Guerrero, the authority also noted the respectful links existing between the NDC and the Communist Party of Cuba.
At the meeting, Guerrero updated those present on the effects of the US economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba, reiterating that this is the main obstacle to the development of the country’s economy.
Likewise, she denounced the decision of the US administration headed by former President Donald Trump (2017-2021) to include Cuba in the list of states sponsoring terrorism.
Meanwhile, the diplomat described the efforts made by Cuba in the fight against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the evolution of the four vaccine candidates against COvid-19 developed in her nation, as well as detailed the process of the overhaul task in the economy.
Thomas, who was accompanied by the president of the NDC, Glen Noel, and Samuel Ligham, was grateful for the opportunity, and expressed that Cuba is an example of international solidarity.
Tiny Grenada, of 335 square kilometers and about 100,000 inhabitants, resumed relations with Cuba in 1994 and its government announced in 2008 a move to build a monument to honor Cubans who fell during the US invasion war of 1983.
Both Caribbean countries share links in areas such as health, education and the construction of public works, while Cuban medical professionals from the Henry Reeve Contingent helped Grenada to fight against the pandemic as soon as it started in March 2020.
