París, Feb 22 (Prensa Latina) A group of French architects and urbanists will arrive in Cuba tomorrow in a professional tour to discover and deepen their knowledge on the wealth of the Caribbean nation”s architecture.
As organizers confirmed to Prensa Latina, during their stay of study and formation that will last until March 7, visitors will tour Havana and other cities, besides attending conferences and meetings with specialists of the sector in Cuba.
The trip intends to allow participants to know better Cuban society’, promote the shared experiences of everyday life’ and to identify new areas of cooperation and development between France and Cuba’, detailed the coordinators of the visit.
The project is part of the strengthening of French-Cuban relations in the political, diplomatic, economic, cultural and cooperation for over two years’, they added.
The programmed agenda includes conferences on the evolution of architecture since the colonial era until modern age, as well as tours to emblematic buildings of each historical period found in Havana.
Also, specialists will visit other cities and localities in the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus and Santa Clara.
Among participants in the tour is architect Claude Valentin, who has received numerous awards in France such as the National Prize to a Citizen Project 2017 and the National Prize of Wood Construction.
Valentin, with an important experience in the area of woodwork from the view of sustainable development, wants to work in the framework of a French-Cuban cooperation, indicated organizers.
In the coordination of the project contribute the agencies Paradiso, Sol Latina and the cabinet Retia Latina, with the support of the National Union of French Guilds of Architects.
