French MP urges to support Cuba against US blockade

Paris, Jan 22 (Prensa Latina) French parliamentary leader Andre Chassaigne urged on Friday to strengthen efforts in his country and the world to support Cuba in the fight against the US economic, commercial and financial, which he considered a priority.

‘I believe that fighting against the US blockade is currently the mother of battles, because that US policy is the cause of the difficulties in the daily lives of Cuban inhabitants and an obstacle to the transformations taking place there,’ the communist leader noted in an interview with Prensa Latina.

According to the president of the Democratic and Republican Left Group in the National Assembly, another important issue to strongly demand the end of the US blockade in force for six decades is its marked extraterritorial character, by threatening and attacking companies and banks in other countries.

The blockade not only impacts Cuba, its consequences are global and we see how Western Europe does not have total independence and sovereignty when it comes to conducting a policy of commercial and economic exchange with Cuba, he set out.

Chassaigne recalled the fear of reprisals, such as sanctions, prevailing among French and European Union entrepreneurs and banks, which shows that confronting Washington’s aggressiveness represents a general interest.

In that sense, the legislator for the central department of Puy-de-Dome supported the mobilization convened for Sunday in Paris, where unions, solidarity associations and citizens will demand the lifting of the US blockade against Cuba.
