French lawmaker notes Cuba’s achievements, demands end to blockade

Paris, Dec 26 (Prensa Latina) French lawmaker Eric Coquerel on Thursday noted Cuba’s social achievements and demanded an end to the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Caribbean island for six decades.

In statements to Prensa Latina on the new anniversary of the Cuban Revolution of January 1, 1959, the left-wing leader pointed out that Cuba represents an independence project that has challenged the imperialist interests in Latin America.

We see those achievements in health care and education in such an adverse scenario, stated the parliamentarian from La France Insoumise, who visited Cuba early this year.

Coquerel reiterated his support for Cuba and condemned the tightening of the blockade by the Trump administration, which activated Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.

France should combat that aggressive policy in a stronger manner, he noted.
