French association recalls Cuban heroism in Playa Girón invasion

Paris, Apr 18 (Prensa Latina) The France-Cuba association on Sunday highlighted Cuba´s heroism in defense of its Revolution in April 1961, as it defeated a mercenary invasion organized by the United States in less than 72 hours.

In a letter sent to Cuban Ambassador to France Elio Rodríguez, the association -with six decades of solidarity work- recalled Cuba´s victory in the sands of Playa Girón (formerly known as Bay of Pigs) over US invasion and claimed this victory will always take an important place in history.

Although Washington does not seriously consider a new invasion, it continues its hostility and attempts to subdue Cuba, a people whom we fraternally support to in their difficult struggle, the association stressed.

According to the association, whether in those days Cuban people had given in, driven by fear and terrified of shrapnel and cannon shots, the US aggression would have been successful and ‘Cuba would not be what it is today, at least the one we love and honor us with its friendship’.
