French association ratifies support for Cuba and condemns blockade

Paris, Jan 8 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba Cooperation France (CubaCoop) association on Friday ratified its solidarity with the Caribbean island and condemned the United States economic, financial and commercial blockade, which it described as cruel.

The organization, which was created in 1995 and has been involved in dozens of projects in favor of Cuba’s socioeconomic development, announced new donations for central Cienfuegos province.

According to CubaCoop President Victor Fernandez, the assistance from French institutions and cities through the association will support Cuba’s efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

The donations, worth dozens of thousands of euros, consist of laptops, personal computers, photocopiers, hospital inputs, office materials, furniture and tools.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Fernandez acknowledged the Cuban people’s resistance against the United States blockade and its tightening by the Donald Trump administration, and called on US President-elect Joe Biden to abandon that aggressive policy on the Caribbean island.

Things are clear, the ideal and normal thing would be that the end of the blockade comes with the new administration, but we know that the vote in Congress is needed for that. We do expect that Biden annuls Trump’s hostile measures, he underlined.

Fernandez added that CubaCoop will continue to work to raise the universal awareness about the injustice that the blockade is and that the Cuban people have the right to choose their destiny without either foreign interference or aggressions.

The CubaCoop president said that in 2021, the association plans new cooperation projects with Cuba, including those targeted at strategic sectors such as food security and hydric development.
