France remembers victim of a terrorist crusade against Cuba

Paris, Sep 4 (Prensa Latina) The French solidarity association Cuba Linda on Friday remembered young Italian man Fabio Di Celmo, murdered in 1997 in Havana as a result of a series of terrorist attacks promoted and financed from the United States to discourage tourism to the island.

A plaque at the Copacabana Hotel, where the bomb sabotage took place 23 years ago, commemorates the unpunished crime, which the Cuban people and the solidarity movement with the Caribbean island do not forget and continue demanding justice, the association stressed in a statement to which Prensa Latina had access.

Cuba Linda, founded in 1998 to promote solidarity with the Caribbean nation and so French citizens can learn the Cuban reality, pointed out that the island’s extreme right based in Miami, protected by Washington, carried out violent actions in tourist facilities in the 90s, including the one that claimed the life of the 32-year-old Italian man.

The criminal attacks by US imperialism and its mercenaries against Cuba have taken all forms, from the invasion on Playa Giron (Bay of Pigs), in central Cuba, in 1961 to the bacteriological warfare and the 1976 bombing of a Cubana de Aviacion plane with 73 passenger on board, the association said.

Cuba Linda announced in the statement that it will participate today in a virtual tribute to Fabio Di Celmo organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).
