Foreign ministers of Cuba and Laos advocate stronger bilateral ties

Havana, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) The Foreign Ministers of Cuba and Laos, Bruno Rodriguez and Saleumxay Kommasith, respectively, advocated on Monday in this capital the strengthening of bilateral relations on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of their establishment.

Upon receiving his Asian counterpart at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Rodriguez expressed gratitude for ‘the permanent solidarity’ between the peoples and governments of both countries.

This visit reaffirms the shared will to deepen the excellent ties in all areas and is an opportunity to develop a political dialogue, the Cuban minister stressed.

The head of Cuban diplomacy added that Saleumxay’s presence responds to the high priority that Havana gives to its ties with Laos.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic considered that the two countries share a socialist ideology.

He indicated that Laos supports Cuba’s battle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

The official visit of the Laos foreign minister will last until November 12, and includes visits to sites of economic and social interest, according to official sources.

The Lao People’s Democratic Republic has maintained excellent diplomatic relations with Cuba since their establishment in 1974.
